Tree Planting at The Field, Strelley

The Field, Strelley is a wilding and community project – turning an ex-agricultural field in Strelley into a haven for plants, wildlife and environmental education. You can visit their website here; The Field, Strelley (fieldstrelley.org).

This event was a collaboration between The Field and Canopy 2050 growers, they have the land, we have the trees and the people power.

An amazing 22 volunteers turned up with their home grown trees on a cloudy February morning. In all we planted 260 trees, 130 grown by Canopy 2050 guardians and 130 provided by Broxtowe Borough council. The atmosphere was great, everyone willing to work and get the job done. Thanks to Keith, Rachel, Matty and Rose, our hosts for the day and the delicious flapjack provided.

The trees planted were a mixture of mainly oak, birch, hazel, hawthorn, blackthorn, beech with a few others thrown in.
